The MX Keys is a full-size keyboard featuring a number pad, it features a slim and low-profile design which looks sleek on your desk. Despite its slim design, the keyboard does pack in a bit of weight, weighing over 800g, due to its strong and sturdy build which is on a single metal plate. This does reduce the portability of the keyboard, but it ensures that the keyboard stays planted on your desk and doesn’t slide around when typing.

Logitech MX Keys
The keyboard has a sleek design

The keyboard has a grey speckled outer casing with a slightly speckled finish with dark grey keys which look fantastic. The keys themselves have a domed design which provides a more ergonomic typing experience as your fingers naturally fall into the keys as you type.

The keys are also backlit, which makes it great for using the keyboard at any time of the day. The backlighting is clear and even, the brightness of the backlights can also be adjusted.

The keyboard has a fixed angle, so it can’t be adjusted. This is because the keyboard is supported by the section that stores the rechargeable battery, I didn’t find this to be an issue for myself, but if you use your keyboard at specific angles – this doesn’t support the flexibility to adjust.

The charging port and power switch can be found on the back-right side. The keyboard charges with USB Type-C and the power switch can be used to save power when you’re not using the keyboard, although I just leave it turned on.

Typing Experience

I have no complaints regarding the typing experience with the MX Keys. Key presses feel pleasant and the keys themselves have no wobble and feel solid and of high quality.

Typing with Logitech MX Keys
Typing feels great

There isn’t an awful amount of key travel, in comparison to a typical desktop or mechanical keyboard, but I find that this allows me to keep typing for longer. Typing is also quiet, meaning that nobody else around you will be disturbed as you type.

The MX Keys packs in a bunch of useful functionalities that make day to day computer use slicker and more efficient.

The keyboard supports all major operating systems and can connect over USB using Logitech’s Unifying receiver or Bluetooth. I use the USB receiver as it works in tandem with my mouse and the battery life performance appears to be a little better. The keyboard can be paired with up to three devices for quick switching.

The keyboard has many useful features

Across the top of the keyboard are a wide array of function keys that can be used to quickly bring up different interfaces of the operating system, as well as controlling playback media and volume. I think it is great that the keyboard has such a wide range of keys programmed out of the box as it allows for different tasks to be quickly done.

Of course, if you are not happy with the stock functionality, you can customise these keys using Logitech’s software to perform specific functions or even application-specific functions. The software also allows you to set up duo-link, so the keyboard can work with an MX mouse to perform specific gestures, as well as utilise Logitech Flow which allows you to work across multiple computers easily.

Battery Life

Logitech claims that you can expect around 10 days of battery life when making use of the backlights on the keyboard, and I have found that claim to be truthful. Power saving-measures such as the backlights having motion sensors to detect when your hands are near to the keyboard before turning on the backlights help save power.

If you need more battery life than that, Logitech claims you can reach up to 5 months of battery life before needing to charge.

If you’re looking for a sleek and comfortable keyboard that is great to type on, the Logitech MX Keys is a fantastic choice. It is a little pricey, but I think it’s well worth the money if you’re going to be spending a lot of time typing out content.
