The Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro from Anker are a pair of feature-packed true wireless earbuds including support for Bluetooth 5.0, Qualcomm aptX as well as an impressive 32 hours of total listening time.
Anker may be known for making cables and portable phone chargers, but the Liberty 2 Pro’s bring some serious heat to the competition.

Design
The earbuds are available in a single slate grey colour, which I think looks great. The earbuds have a plastic construction, with a mostly matte design which looks sleek with touches of gloss towards the ear tip which are easy to keep clean.
The earbuds are a little large in comparison to other true-wireless earbuds that I’ve looked at in the past, but they don’t feel that big when I wear them. The construction is lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
The outer side of the earbuds is home to quite a cool design which has a cut out for the status LED to illuminate behind, giving a nice effect, as well as the Soundcore logo in a subtle and glossy finish.
Despite the large surface area, this is not a function button, the function button can be found on the top of the earbuds to perform a variety of functions that can be customised within the Soundcore app – I’ll talk about the app later on in the review. I would’ve liked the button to be a little larger, but it’s still large enough to get the job done.
The bottom of the earbuds is home to the charging contacts which are used to charge the earbuds when placed into the charging case.
The earbuds have a rubber tip design, as well as featuring ear fins to ensure that the earbuds have a good fit and stay in place when worn. The ear fins certainly help with the earbuds’ larger size and ensure that they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Anker has also included plenty of ear tip and fin sizes in the box to ensure that you can get the best fit, but I found the ones that were on the earbuds out of the box to be pretty good.
Charging Case
The charging case shares a similar finish to the earbuds, with a matte slate grey finish. The case is a rounded pebble-shaped design that is comfortable to hold. The case is also pocketable, but it is a little larger in comparison to the charging case for Apple’s AirPods.
One thing I really like about the charging case is how it opens, it slides, which I think is really sleek and is different in comparison to the competition. The earbuds will automatically turn on and pair with your device when the lid is opened, so there’s no waiting time for them to connect.
On the front of the charging case are a set of LED indicator lights to show the charging status of the earbuds, as well as the case. On the back is the USB Type-C port and Bluetooth pairing button. The charging port is behind a rubber cover, which I do think may be a little form over function, but it’s not a huge issue.
Overall, I think the design of the charging case is pleasantly minimal and simplistic and I’m a big fan of the sliding lid feature.
Sound Quality
Earbuds
The Liberty 2 Pro’s offer a great sounding listening experience, with the flexibility to tune the experience to your preference with the Soundcore app.
Out of the box, the earbuds feature prominent deep and rich bass with clear mid and high frequencies, although sometimes the highs can sound a little too sharp and bass too strong for my liking, but the overall listening experience is good and this can be adjusted with the app.
An advantage that comes with the earbuds having an app is that it can be used to adjust the sound EQ of the earbuds, allowing you to tune the earbuds specifically for you. The app includes a fully customisable EQ graph as well as a wide assortment of presets to get a sound that works for the listener.
Sound isolation is fantastic thanks to the wide assortment of ear tips included in the box, which helps the earbuds get a good seal when worn.
Microphone
The earbuds’ microphone quality sounds great for making and taking voice calls or memos. The microphones managed to pick up my voice clearly and to a good volume.
Features
The earbuds have a collection of useful built-in features including Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX, which will not only allow for better support with modern devices that support Bluetooth 5.0 but also a higher-quality listening experience thanks to the aptX codec. The earbuds also feature IPX4 water resistance, which is rated against splashes, so you’ll be able to break a sweat and wear the earbuds whilst at the gym or on a run.
As I have alluded to in this review, the earbuds also have a companion mobile app which can be used to perform a variety of functions. The app can be used to adjust the EQ profile, or create a custom HeardID profile based on the frequencies your ears can hear, I didn’t find HearID to make a difference as I could hear all of the frequencies in the test.
The Soundcore app can also be used to change the behaviour of the multi-function buttons on the earbud. I think this is a very compelling feature as it ensures that the earbud experience is more tailored for the user. The app can also provide firmware updates for the earbuds.
Battery Life
The Liberty 2 Pro’s tout an impressive battery life of up to 8 hours of listening on a single charge, depending on your listening volume, with a total of 32 hours of listening time when the charges provided by the charging case are taken into account – all of this makes for a very impressive and convenient battery life.
When it does come to charging, the charging case has a couple of handy features to make the process more convenient. Firstly, quick charging is supported, 10 minutes of charging can provide an additional 2 hours of listening time and 1.5 hours can fully charge the earbuds. The charging case also supports wireless charging, so no cables are needed to top up the battery of your earbuds.
Conclusion
The Soundcore’s Liberty 2 Pro’s offer a compelling and well-made offering for true wireless earbuds. The earbuds sound good and are comfortable to wear and the addition of a companion app makes these a great option as the sound profile can be adjusted to your liking and the earbuds will get better with time as they can be updated.
